  2. Why we want to participate in the NBLP ll • Positive experience in the National Business Learning Partnership (Round l); • Natural next step in advancing our practices of looking at data-research and analysis; and • Some people say “You don't really know something until you try to teach it…”

Specific Highlights of our Program • Local Blueprints • Labor Market Reports • Data Mining (Career Center Staff) • ‘Secret Shopper/Point of Contact’ Data Collection • Data Analysis Academy • Our philosophy of “no secrets” – data is a good thing and is not used to penalize or to build unhealthy competition but is used to continually improve our ability to help the customer

Working with a Protégé • We are involved in the NPLP to share and learn… • We see value in partnering over a two year time-frame to examine and refine our own ways of looking at data and doing business… • We would like multiple stakeholders to be involved in the partnership, i.e. board members to customer service representatives… • Together we would like to try new approaches to peer-to-peer learning… (one thought might be – http://nblpll.blogspot.com/)

A Match was Made! • Eastern Plains New Mexico Council of Governments…12 counties (1 Indian Reservation) comprise WIB • Location - Boarder with Texas (45,000 square miles) • Labor Force – 120,000 (NSWIB = 215,000) • Sector Priorities – Health Care, Cannon Air Base, Food Processing/agriculture • Areas we will work together in…. • Community Mapping Audit (Blue Print) • Identify Suitable Database Retrieval System • Establish Data Academy Partnerships • New ways of on-line communication
