  1. Plunger Pump – Its Principle and Uses Plunger pumps are usually known as high-pressure pumps that are being used in many industrial applications. Cleaning applications or chemical industries use these pumps. They achieve different pressure levels and are suitable for small or large flow rates conveying liquids such as water, oils, and liquid gases over the temperature in a wide range. Various pressure levels produced by the triplex plunger pump can easily be pumped to even abrasive media such as slurries or carbon mashes. It is commonly called a piston pump. The term plunger comes from the English language which means piston rod. Well, the piston does not reach the cylinder wall. It has no seals either and the pump operates the displacement principle. The plunger pump manufacturers designs the pump in such a way that it is the contrast to the piston pump, which does not move and has a fixed seal in the stuffing box. A Centrifugal pump adds kinetic energy to a fluid and there is no fixed volume, whereas the plunger movement creates that volume. The main principle of the plunger pump is to create a suction effect in the liquid and open the valve where the medium flows in the liquid end. The plunger increases its own pressure of the fluid to be pumped and displaces the volume on its own. The suction valve opens and closes to the process for the pressurized fluid. There is a movement of forward and backward constantly up to several times per minute. Several plungers can be used to increase the flow rate. They feed the common process area via the same pipe and different plungers vary on the design and the application made by the plunger pump manufacturer. The more number of plungers can disturb the crankshaft that can trigger the pressure. The triplex plunger pump consists of two major components, the power end, and the liquid end.
