Suicide audit methodology • Office of National Statistics – Compendium of Population Health Indicators • Data from BEHMHT • Coroners reports – database compiled • Exclusions – non-residents, individuals of no fixed abode, suicides under 15 years • Place of birth was used as proxy indicator for ethnicity

Coroners verdict – changes from previous audit • 2001-2006 • 75% open verdicts • Men 25-34 • 44% born outside the UK (37%) • 43% single • 66% no contact with MH services • 2008-2012 • 85% open verdicts • Men 25-44 • 34% born outside the UK (42%) • 43% single • 81% employed (38% of records) • 75% no contact with MH services (13.5% of records)
