Device to host a colony of 6 mice in space (on board of ISS). • Available commercial space (“rack”)with given interfaces. • Functions: to feed, to water, administer controlled dosages of drugs, remove excrements, environmental conditioning. • 6 separate cages without contacts between mice. • Needs: guarantee mice’s physic and psychic well-being to have realistic results in experiments. MDS

  3. Design targets Box: 440.1x253.2x516.1 [mm] 12mm insulation, only on lateral walls. Max dimensions Animals contained 6 Mice 30-40 days/mouse 90 day between launch and landing Permanence in space Switch on/off, Led, Data connector, Power connector, Air in filter, Air out filter, Water refilling connector, Food refilling opening Rack Panel connection

Needs Dimensions 6 cages + den max available surface Vmin=650 cm^3/mouse Air Filters in/out + Pump + Manifold + Vent-hole Reservoir (2-3l) + Pump + pipes Consumption: 20-30% mouse’s weight/day Water Food Food tablet Dry food x 100 days 3 Kg LHU (Liquid Handling Unit) Drug reservoir + Electrovalves + Metering pump
