Personality • Individualism • Independent • Self-reliant: Be a man! • Do it yourself • Competition • The South is more of a collective: Competitive with The North/The Coasts • Competitive with other Southern States • Sports • Privacy • More friendly than other states (Social Graces) • Mississippi is “The Hospitality State” • Do not appear aloof, more personable to strangers • Man friends

Conversation Partners • Please, stay if you have signed-up for a conversation partner. • Come and receive your partner’s information. • If your partner’s name is highlighted or says “NO” next to the name that means they will not be here today. You and your partner should both try to contact each other within the week. • Find your Conversation Partner

Discuss Guidelines • Meet with your partner every week until December 12 (about 10 weeks) • Meet for one hour • This is not academic tutoring. • Talk about anything, but talk in English. • If you have any concerns about your partner, contact me. • Use Worksheet to help keep up with your meetings.
