  2. Think About This... When the Americans attacked with an army of 6,000 regulars and militia, a group of 300 men were able to repel them until reinforcements arrived. How? General Isaac Brock died very shortly after he arrived at the heights. General Scheaffe eventually defeated the Americans. There is a 156 foot monument for Brock and a small plaque for Scheaffe. Why?

  3. The Big Event October 13, 1812, 4 a.m. • American troops in boats cross the Niagara River • British sentry spots them and reports to commanding officer • Garrison at Queenston rushes to secure heights • Americans repelled (for a time)

  4. Next... • Brock leads small group to the heights • Brock mortally wounded • Americans take Queenston Heights • Scheaffe takes command and comes up behind Americans • Drives them off the heights • Battle over – British Win
