  3. Assessment • Training of all assessors • Introduction of new descriptors • Introduction of TAB (team assessment of behaviours) for multi-source feedback

  4. Training / appraisal of foundation faculty • Educational supervisor training to include ‘acceptable progress’ • Training for FTPDs (every 3 years)

  5. Meetings with supervisors “foundation doctors must meet with their educational supervisor at the beginning, middle and end of each placement. If issues or concerns are identified, they should meet more regularly.” Draft FP Ref Guide

  6. Programme data • Clear programme descriptions describing how competences will be met (curriculum mapping) • Provision of approved job descriptions • Rules for programme composition • Including name of FTPD on programme data returns

  7. Generic teaching curriculum • Mapping to curriculum • 3 hours of bleep free teaching per week

  8. Sign off • Review panel consisting of 3 people • STFS to inform GMC if F1 is not signed off • Local performance review panel* *Trainee in difficulty committee meets this requirement

  9. Quality management • Training for members of visiting teams • Use of lay / external reps • Circulating results of feedback to FDs • Policy / strategy documents: • Policies for each of the QAFP domains • Educational governance • Job descriptions / person specs for educators • Training to develop teaching skills • Recruitment policies for both supervisors and trainees • Policies on programme construction and placements • Equal opportunities policy • Careers advice • Policies for supporting underperforming trainees • Deanery QM policies and procedures
