THE REGIONAL RELATION Internal region External region Hoi An city belongs to Quang Nam province, located on the central coast of Viet Nam Has the Cultural heritage site and Biosphere Reserve in national and international levels. The Economic structure: Tourism – Services – Commerce,Industry, small scale industry, agriculture. Hoi An City is about 30km south of Da Nang city and about 50km north of Tam Ky city and in the major economic region of Central Viet Nam Be contiguous with East – West Economic Corridor and has the very advantageous position for connecting to many economic regions in the North, South, High-land, Vietnam – Laos border gates, etc.

PROCESS OF PROJECT ESTABLSHMENT Hoi An City Committee of the Party has issued the Article 275-CV/TV dated May 16, 2008 on assigning tasks for building criteria of Ecology – Culture and Tourism Hoi An city. Some relevant authorities cooperated together for compiling the plan of “the project on building Hoi An as a eco town” (renamed as “the project on building Hoi An city as Ecocity”

PROCESS OF PROJECT ESTABLSHMENT On Sept 24th, 2008, as proposed by Department of Resource and Environment, Hoi An People’s Committee has issued the Decision No 3266/QD-UBND on establishing the compiling group of the project for building Hoi An city as Ecocity. On Nov 8th, 2008, the seminar on Hoi An Ecocity is organized by Hoi An People’s Committee. Its purposes aim to get the opinions for the project on building Hoi An city as Ecocity The draft project has been implemented one year later. The Scientific Symposium on Building Hoi An city as Ecocity ( supported by Akzonobel Paint Company)

  20. PROCESS OF PROJECT ESTABLSHMENT On Dec 12th, 2009, The People Council of Hoi An City has issued the specialized resolution No11/2009/NQ-HĐND on building Hoi An City as Ecocity
