  2. Essential Questions • What are context clues? How can they help you determine the meaning of a word? • What is context? How can it change the meaning of a word?

  3. Hints!! • Read carefully, looking at all words in the sentence or paragraph. • Some words have more than 1 meaning, so be sure to pick the correct one :)

  4. Simple Steps • You need to read carefully. • Read the entire sentence or paragraph looking for clues to let you know what the word is • Once you have figured out the meaning, reread it with the word you picked.

  5. Practice!! • If you swing the bat, you have a better chance to hit the ball. What is the meaning of the word bat?
