What is DCON? • DCON is basically the end of the Key Club year – we celebrate all weekend! • It signifies the end of the club officers and District officer’s terms – while it is also a time to elect the new District board for next year • Every District has an annual Convention and it is planned by the District board through out the year! • Club Officers receive training from informed members and staff

  3. DCON Agenda • Friday, March 30th • Arrive at Double Tree Hotel • Opening Session • Head to the rooms and chill • Caucusing begins – listen to speeches from those running for office • Head to room and sleep

  4. DCON Agenda • Saturday, March 31st • Breakfast • Workshop #1 • Workshop #2 • Lunch / Service Fair • Workshop #3 • Workshop #4 • Governor’s Banquet • Closing Session / Awards / Talent Show • Governor’s Ball!

  5. Theme • “Service on the Big Screen” • Hollywood, movie style • Aims to put an emphasis on the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program (KCCP), this year’s District project • Several events during the convention to raise funds for this program

  6. D32 Spirit! • Colors: Red and Black • Mascot: Dragon • Part of DCON is showing your division spirit in several spirit competitions during the weekend • Winner gets the “Spirit Stick” • $15 for spirit gear (t-shirt, foam finger and stunner shades) • Pre-Con will be held at KR on Friday, March 16th – we are hosting the division!

  7. Location • Double Tree Hotel in SeaTac • Practically the entire hotel is rented out for Key Clubbers! • All meals on Saturday are included in the price • 4 people to a room

  8. Opening Session / Caucusing • Opening session welcomes you to District Convention! • Introductions, spirit competitions, videos, music, a Keynote speaker, and more • Afterwards, caucusing begins • We listen to speeches from those running for district positions • Meet everyone from our division!

  9. Workshops / Service Fair • During the day on Saturday, you attend different workshops • For officers, this is when you get training and learn more • For members, there are a variety of options (salsa dancing, yoga, icebreakers, etc) • The service fair is a chance to see how other clubs in our district are making a difference

  10. Talent Show / Awards • During closing session, there is a talent show and award ceremony • Anyone can enter the talent show (even you!) • Awards are given out in several categories (best t-shirt, website, etc) • The new District board is also introduced

  11. Governor’s Banquet & Ball • On Saturday night, we end DCON by attending a formal dinner and dance • This is a chance to get dressed up and have fun • The Ball is afterwards! • On Sunday, we pack up and leave around lunch time

  12. Payment • Price for DCON is $220 • Based on how many people want to attend, that price will be adjusted • In addition, Kiwanis is offering discounts to members who reached an hours ranking (bronze, silver or gold)

  13. Deadlines • Go to the documents section of the website and print out the registration packet (link on handout) • Bring page 8, 15 and 16 to room B-5 by next Friday, January 20th • Once all forms are in, we will determine the discounts based on the number of people

  14. Deadlines • Once a discounted price is determined, we will let everyone know! • Pay the amount to the cashier between January 23rd and February 3rd • Also, you must turn in your handbook by Friday, January 23rd(so hours can be tallied for 2nd quarter)

  15. Why should you attend DCON? • Because it will be one of the best weekends of your life (seriously) • Meet Key Clubbers from all over the region (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Alaska, British Columbia) • Over 1,500 people in attendance • Gain valuable insight into service in our community and more about Key Club on a District level • You worked hard this year, you deserve a weekend to celebrate your success!
