  5. Keynote Speaker Heather Shultz Described as a “wild and wonderful roller coaster ride ofhumor, emotion, and inspiration,” Heather’s presentations are packed with content, personal stories, and interaction. She believes in the important role that youth play in the world.

  7. Mobile App Look out for the mobile app that will be released before DCON! It will feature: • DCON and individual seminar surveys • Map of convention center • Seminar schedule • Dress code • General session seating chart • FAQ and contact page • And more!

  9. Governor’s Ball Join District Governor Joshua and your Lt. Governor at the Governor’s Ball on Saturday night to celebrate your achievements!

  10. Alternative Activities • Sing Karaoke • Play Ice Breakers • Play from a huge assortment of card, board and video games • Make new friends Not much of a dancer? That’s okay! There will be plenty of Alternative Activities for you!

Implement: Guardians of Service! • Decorate your meeting room, with permission from your faculty advisor! • Include links to the DCON webpage on the CyberKey into your club websites and newsletters throughout the year. • Include the DCON logo and theme throughout your meetings, agendas, newsletters, socials, etc. • Recognize Guardians of Service every month

  14. So How Can You Attend? • Be an officially dues paid club (not delinquent) • Keep track of deadlines • School paperwork • Check with your school ASAP! Do this in the fall. • Some schools need 3+ months of notice • Examples: school district approval, teacher signatures, leadership forms, overnight forms, transportation forms • Some school districts require school background checks, in addition to Kiwanis background checks

Registration • Utilizing a new online registration site • Tips from past years are no longer applicable; such as the “30-minute timer” • Resources about the new registration site will be developed and released by the District Convention Committee • Remember to follow all directions carefully!

  16. Financial Overview Registration Deadlines • Fees are for Key Club members AND Chaperones • Registration Opens:December 10th • On-Time Registration: $209 per person • February 10threceived by the District Office • Late Registration:$249 per person • March 1streceived by the District Office

  17. Financial Overview • Note: • Registration fee is more than DCON 2015 • However; The hotel rates are less than DCON 2015. • In the most expensive hotel, sharing 4 persons in a room, Registration + 2 Nights Hotel for DCON 2016 is only $8.02 per person more than DCON 2015.

  19. Financial Overview Set up a realistic budget with “revenue” and “expenses.” How much does each member need to contribute? How much is the Key Club and Kiwanis Club contributing?

Chaperones • 10 Key Clubbers : 1 Chaperone • Gender matters! • If you have 1female and 1 male student you must have 1 female and 1 male advisor • This rule mustbe followed • Communicate, plan ahead, and share chaperones with other clubs and divisions. Remember: Students may NEVER make chaperone-sharing decisions on behalf of the adults. This is about liability and proper etiquette. No one should ever volunteer chaperoning services on behalf of someone else without their permission.

  22. Chaperones • Look for chaperones EARLY • Pay for chaperones’ registration, hotel, and Friday night food • Thank you - in person and handwritten • 1 chaperone for every 10 members (gender specific) • Chaperones must be at least 21 years old and background checked • Only chaperones can drive cars or vans
