  13. Client stationsORiNOCO Ethernet Convertor • Combination of an Ethernet or RS-232 interface box and an embedded ORiNOCO extended PC Card • Connects Ethernet terminal to ORiNOCO wireless network • Uses IEEE 802.11 ORiNOCO PC-Card inside • Max data-rate: 2 Mbps • Turns fixed wired work stations into flexible wireless terminals • Two versions • ORiNOCO/EC : Ethernet support only • ORiNOCO/EC-S : Ethernet support and RS232 support Note: This version is expected to be discontinued and replaced by faster unit in course of 2001

  14. ORiNOCO RG softwareSetup utility • Java based RG configuration tool • Platform independent • Requires Java Runtime Environment • Easy to use (for non-expert users) • Automatic parameter setting for • DHCP, IP range, sub-net mask, NAT, Rate Select • Default Parameter setting • Network / Internet AP ID • Security • Frequency Channel

  15. ORiNOCO RG software Setup utility • User parameters (RG-1000 only) • ISP telephone number • Account user name • Account password • (IP Address, Domain name server)

  16. ORiNOCO RG software AP Manager • The ORiNOCO AP manager (used to manage AP-500, AP-1000), can also be used to configure/monitor RG systems • Used for expert users • Allows more parameters to set • IP Pools used by DHCP server • Access Control tables • etc. • Default password is same as RG-Identifier (= Network name)

  17. Network Layer IEEE: LLC Layer IEEE: MAC Layer Physical Layer Client softwarePC Card drivers • Drivers for ORiNOCO PC Card (optionally used in ISA or PCI adapter card): • Windows 3.xx (NDIS, ODI) • Windows 95 driver • Windows NT4 driver • Windows 98/ME/2000 • Windows /XP • Linux • Apple (G3) Powerbook • Windows/CE • DOS (packet) drivers • Drivers for ORiNOCO USB Adapter: • Windows 98/ME/2000 • Windows/XP
