Slide three: How would this type of propaganda or example persuade people? Why do advertisers use this type of propaganda? Slide Four: Give an example of this type of propaganda. Slide five: List two review questions to ask the audience. You must have the following requirements in your PowerPoint: Background, clipart, animation, correct grammar and spelling, and accurate information.

  3. Snob Appeal Snob appeal is an appeal to everybody’s natural urges to distinguish themselves from all the rest– buy a product because hardly anybody else has it.

  4. Snob Appeal Snob appeal is persuasive because it appeals to our inner desires to be better than others. We think if we purchase the item, we will have greater honor and reputation.

  5. An example of snob appeal is as follows: “Marines. Do you have what it takes?” (Makes you wonder if you have enough to be “the best of the best.”) An advertisement that calls a certain car “elite.” (Shows you only a few can purchase it.)

  6. A snob appeal ad is… • One only the snobby can watch. • Where people want it because everyone has it. • Where people want it because no one has it. • Where people want to stand out because not many people can have it. 2. Can you think of an example of snob appeal?
