Reluctance to surrender power to them will be a continuing challenge …..BijuPatnaik (1961)

THE VISION • Building the organizational capacity of PRIs and the professional capacities of elected representatives and official functionaries so that they can perform their mandated roles effectively • Strengthening the Panchayati Raj System for delivery of improved Governance in Odisha through Capacity Building of Women elected representatives

Activities accomplished at State level • The PCA signed with State Government in July 2011 • Organization of Gender Sensitization training programme for faculties and district level officials • Workshop on Training Need Assessment of EWRs • Two State Project Steering Committee meetings • Organization of two Orientation Training Programmes of DPOs and Govt.officials of five Implementing states • Orientation Workshops for the district level Line Department Officials” of project districts • Thematic support to NIRD for development of National Manual on Gender and Governance • Field testing of national module for the EWR prepared by NIRD under UN WOMEN Project. • Customization of National Training Manual in the context of Odisha • Conduct of 2 Regional Training programmes for District Level Trainers (ToT-2) • Behaviour Change Communication training to Motivators at SIRD level

Activities accomplished at State level • Organization of consultative workshop on development of training manual on livelihood promotion • Development of training module on livelihood • Training of EWRS on leadership and issues affecting the women most. • Process documentation of all the training programmes • Web hosting of all training reports • Facilitation of Mid Term Review conducted by the external consultants of UN Women in the state • Convergence of Livelihood Mapping with CB and Social inclusion with reference to Trafficking and declining CSR

Project Fund Position • Fund received – November 2011 - Rs. 80,45,040.00 • Fund received – December 2012 - Rs. 53,63,360.00 • Total Rs.1,34,08,400.00 • Interest accrued –on 30.06.2013 - Rs. 1,64,410.00 • Approved 3rd Tranche (Sambalpur) Rs. 38,48,500.00 (yet to receive)* • Total fund released to four Districts - Rs.1,23,57,854.00 • Total Expenditure at four Districts - Rs. 64,95,278.00 • Fund available with districts Rs. 58,62,576.00 • Total Expenditure at SIRD - Rs. 9,19,623.00 • FACE submitted - Rs. 74,14,901.00 • Fund available with SIRD Rs. 130923.00 (excluding interest) • * As the tranche was delayed, the fund available with SIRD was released to 2 new districts Bhadrak and Sambalpur which were inducted in the second phase amounting to Rs.36,50,000.00.
