  4. In order to ensure we are preparing our students to have 21’st Century skills we must understand & accept these technologies.

  7. What variations of these tools can we use to engage students?

  8. By digitalizing our instruction & curriculum we give students 24/7 access to learning.

  9. We can provide alternative methods of instruction & assessment in a format that not only addresses the multiple learning styles of our students, but fosters creativity, collaboration, and Innovation.

  10. These are key skills for the 21st century student and a requirement for success in our global society.

  14. More Detail….. • Ipod + Broadcast = Podcast • A podcast is a digital media file, or a related collection of such files, which is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and personal computers.

  15. Guess What….. • You do not need an IPOD to create or Listen to a Podcast. • They can be Audio or Video Format. • The software you need to create them is free. • Besides a computer you only need a $6.00 microphone.

  16. Too Easy For You What is That? • You can use a digital video camera to record a video podcast. • Smart Recorder, Mimio Recorder, or windows media encoder can be used to make a SCREEN CAST • You can subscribe to and syndicate a podcast via an RSS feed. What is that?

Why use this technology • Promotes Collaborative, independent, and differentiated learning. • Authentic, real word task that is of interest to them. • Producing a podcast will hone students critical thinking and information literacy. • Provide an opportunity to promote media literacy rather than compete with the popular media students consume out of school time.

Why use this technology • Stimulates students interest through the use of media production techniques as well as their attention an motivation. • Facilitates small group, collaborative work so that each student can serve as a resource and amplifier for their peers learning. • Allows for the creation of a digital portfolio that can be made available to next years teacher.
