  10. Why Research Monetization Now? • You must execute C-T-P first to monetize successfully. • Do a preliminary assessment and start an M plannow in order to avoid future disappointment. • You can always refine the Site Conceptaccording to the Monetization Mix.

  11. The M Comes Last • Do a quick preliminary M assessment. • Think about potential income streams (monetization models) NOW. • Identify enough good monetization models to have several ways to convert PREsold traffic into dollars. Think diversification! • Understand how each model "fits" your Site Concept. • Do your monetization plan before you commit to a domain name.

  12. The C-T-P-M Process

  13. Tobi’s Monetization Potential • Monetize individual content pages. • Monetize entire site. Here are two examples: • Become a Webmaster and build sites for others. • Joint venture with products/services partners, to market/sell their stuff for a percentage.

  14. Monetization Models (Part 1) • Represent the products/services of related, non-competing online businesses and earn affiliate (commission) income. • Partner with an offline business, such as a real estate agent or hotel/motel owner, sending them customers, on a pay-per-click, per-lead, per-sale, or per-month basis. • Sell your hard goods, such as jewelry, tools, books, and so on, and ship them yourself, have them drop-shipped, or handled entirely by a fulfillment house.

  15. Monetization Models (Part 2) • Sell digital products, such e-books, software, music, and so on, where payments can be processed electronically through services such as ClickBank. • Add contextual advertising, such as Google AdSense or Yahoo! ads, to your content and earn click income. • Sell advertising directly to advertisers with products related to your content.

  16. Monetization Models (Part 3) • Sell your services, such as copywriting, programming, event planning, and so on. • Advertise items you're selling on eBay directly. • Insert eBay auction items directly into related content pages.

  17. Monetization Models (Part 4) • Build warm leads for your Network Marketing ("MLM") venture. • Rent stuff, anything from heavy equipment to extras for movies to your own time-share villa. • Send traffic to your own business, such as a Yahoo! store, your jewelry Web site or your local brick and mortar business, expanding its reach.

  18. Google AdSense • A low-maintenance way to begin monetization. • Serves up ads related to content. • Rewards keyword-focused, content-rich sites. • Google algorithm considers many factors. • Blend ads into the content on page (rather than distract from it).
