  3. Introduction RDW ‘RDW, is the national vehicle and driver registration authority responsible for the safety and environmental aspects of the vehicle fleet in the Netherlands. In addition, the RDW registers the data of vehicles, their owners and the corresponding documents issued.’ Agency of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management The four main tasks of the RDW are: • Admission of vehicles and vehicle components • Supervision and control • Registration and information provision • Document issuing (a.o. driving licenses)

  7. Main tasks RDW • Register driving licences and maintenance of the register (CRB) • Business Service desk (Helpdesk) • Exchange of foreign driving licences (1,5 % of the total) • Renewal of Dutch driving licences for people living outside the EU/EEA

  8. Main tasks CBR and Municipality CBR, determines whether a person is able to drive • Driving ability • Medical capabilty Municipality • Issue of driving licences (97,5% of the total) • Maintaining citizen register • Determination of identity of persons
