Inspection week • Monday 12 noon HT meets MI Documentation and evidence in base All staff attend a briefing after school • Tuesday AM school SE PM nursery SE Classroom observations 2 HMIe Lay Inspector- parents, parent council, pupil council, clerical staff, support staff, community police, priest, pupils, educational psychologist, parents of ALN pupils. Feedback

  5. Wednesday • Nursery inspection begins • Classroom observations continue • Professional engagement meeting after school • Thursday • Hungry for Success Inspection • Nursery Inspection AM • Some Classroom Observation/dialogue with staff • Feedback to HT • Feedback to nursery staff

  6. Last Day of Inspection • Friday • Feedback to HT and EO • HMIE feedback to staff

  7. Being Ready For Inspection • HMIe website • Briefing Papers • Safeguarding Document • Sample Questionnaires • Copies of all documentation for each team member.

  8. New approach to inspection • The inspection is based upon school self -evaluation. • Two HMIe Documents very helpful

Advice • Engage in process • Be honest – sell strengths, identify development areas and plans • Use Standards and Quality Report • Evidence baseline and progress made • Show impact of all actions on learning • Teachers to evidence SE in planning • Evidence in depth analysis and use of NFER and baseline data

  11. ALN information robust • Teachers use QI’s to self evaluate • Peer observations recorded formally • Differentiation clear

  12. Reporting • Draft report given for comment • Reports in Plain English • Uses the structure of Journey to Excellence, grouping outcomes and impact with learning • How well do staff work with others to support children’s learning • Are staff and children actively involved in improving their school community.
