  1. Sermon Series Elijah’s Start To Elisha’s End I Kings 17 – II Kings 13

  2. Faith Tested! I Kings 17 • Elijah tells King Ahab that it will not rain until he says. • Elijah is sent to the brook and the ravens brings him food. • Elijah was going to be provided for through the widow of Zarephath. • The widow was tested, by giving Elijah the first piece of cake. After which, her meal didn’t run out. • The widow’s son dies and Elijah’s faith is tested by bringing him back to life by prayer with the Lord. “Faith Tested, but will God Approve?”

  3. Rain is on the WayI Kings 18:41 • Elijah dukes it out with the prophets of Baal and our God showed up and burnt up everything on the altar. • In verse 41, it says “sound of abundance of rain” it was time for rain, and it was on the way. “ When you need rain (spiritually) and there is not a cloud in the sky, kept praying until you hear of a cloud forming. • Elijah prayed until the servant came and gave him the answer that he was looking for. • Ahab was told to go home because he would not be able to handle the “RAIN.” “ Rain is on the way, but can you handle it?”

  4. Don’t Sell OutI Kings 21:3,20 • King Ahab wanted Naboth’s Garden but Naboth refused to give or sell it to him. • Naboth’s Reply was the main thing, as Christian, we needed to focus on, and apply it to our life. 1. God Forbid it. 2. It’s my inheritance. 3. It can’t be replaced. 4. Money can’t buy it. • These are things that we should remember about our salvation. • Even when Ahab went to take it, God was watching the whole time and sent a punishment unto Ahab. Who’s side your on? Have you sold yourself to evil work?

  5. The Truth or a Lie.I Kings 22 • Ahab got Jehoshaphat to help in battle against Ramoth-Gilead, but Jehoshaphat wanted a word from the Lord. • They found a man of God by the name of Micaiah, but they also had the words of the other prophets and Zedekiah. • The servant that went to get Micaiah wanted him to say the same thing that everybody else was saying. • Verse 14 stands clearly on what we should say to people, the Word of God. “ Would you rather the truth or a lie?”

  6. Don’t Skip Over God!II Kings 1:3 • Ahaziah, Ahab son, took over when his father was killed, but had problem falling through some lattice. • Instead of seeking God, he skips over God and looks to Baalzebub, and God is a jealous God. • God is the only God that would have been able to answer him anyway. • Then Ahaziah send men to go get Elijah by 51’s and two sets got burned up. • The last set gave respect to the man of God and their life was spared. “In spiritual hop- scotch, always jump in where the Rock is.

  7. A Double Portion.II Kings 2:9 • In this chapter Elijah prepares to be taken up to heaven on this day, and Elisha is going to take his place. • No matter how bad Elijah wanted to leave Elisha behind, he could not shake him off. • Elijah finally asks Elisha what would he want from him before he left. He said “A double portion” of your spirit. • This chapter lets us know that we have do something to get something. Amen • One must first realize if they can even handle a double portion of what God gave to someone else.

  8. It’s because of who you’re with now!II Kings 3:14 • Just so happen Elisha was on this journey and Jehoram, like his father, got Jehoshaphat to help fight. • They needed a WORD, and at first Elisha didn’t want anything to do with the three kings. He told Jehoram to go back to the gods of your parents. • BUT, because Elisha respected Jehoshaphat, he found out what they needed to know. If it wasn’t for Jesus dying on the cross, God would not be able to look on us. It’s because of His blood that God even consider looking our way.

  9. Pour it outII Kings 4:5 • The creditors was coming to take her sons and she needed help. • The man of God gave instructions and she did as he told her. • She poured out what she had and God made it enough to live off of. When one comes to church praise HIM By pouring out unto HIM.

  10. Make Some Room!II Kings 4:10 • This great woman perceived that Elisha was a man of God and she wanted to make a room just for him. • She just didn’t throw something together, for she had mapped out what she wanted in there. 1. Bed 2. Table 3. Stool 4. Candlestick • She was then blessed with a child, by the way she treated Elisha. • The child died and she put him the room she made for Elisha and went on her way to get him saying All Is Well. So then, the Consumer went to the Distributor, and he went to the Manufacturer.
