Ephesians 1:4-11 according as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, (5) having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will (thelema), (6) to the praise of the glory of His grace, in which He has made us accepted in the One having been loved. (7) In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, (8) which He caused to abound toward us in all wisdom and understanding; (9) having made known to us the mystery of His will (thelema), according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, (10) for an administration of the fullness of times, to head up all things in Christ, both the things in Heaven, and the things on earth, even in Him, (11) in whom also we have been chosen to an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His own will (thelema),,

  3. Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ. Eph 1:13 In whom you also trusted, after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.

  4. Understanding The Will Of God The Decreed Will/Purpose of God It is a noun - θέλημα - thelēma Think of it as “The Conception” • It was conceived in eternity before creation • It is a pre-determined project/desire • It is unchangeable

The Directive Will Of God (Activation) • It has to do with guidance and influence • It is being worked out in time • It is the process/means to reach the goal • It is always a verb - thelō Romans 9:22-23 What if God, willing/ thelō to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction; (23) and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy which He had before prepared to glory;
