  4. Description of Paradise

  5. There is nothing like it • No delight in this world can be compared to the delights awaiting us in Paradise. • The delights of Paradise are everlasting and real. • ‘’It is sparkling light, aromatic plants, a lofty palace, a flowing river, ripe fruit, a beautiful wife and abundant clothing, in an eternal abode of radiant joy, in beautiful, soundly-constructed high houses.’’ (Ibn Majah)

  6. The gates of Paradise • Allah says: {جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ ٱلأَبْوَابُ} ‘’’Adn [everlasting gardens] of paradise, whose doors will be opened for them’’ (saad:50) Also: {جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَمَنْ صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ وَالمَلاَئِكَةُ يَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِّن كُلِّ بَابٍ} * {سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكُم بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَىٰ ٱلدَّارِ} ‘’....And the angels shall enter unto them from every gate saying: Peace be unto you for that you preserved in patience! How excellent is the final home’’. (Ra’d: 23)

  7. The gates of Paradise • The Prophet said: ‘’In Paradise there are eight gates. There is one gate called Ar-Rayyan. No-one will enter it except those who fast, and when they have entered it will be locked behind them, and no-one else will enter it.’’ (B/M) • He also said: ‘’Whoever spends a pair (of anything) from his wealth for the sake of Allah, will be called from the gates of Paradise, and Paradise has eight gates. Whoever will be from the people of salat will be called from the gate of prayer; whoever will be among the people of sadaqa will be called from the gate of charity; whoever will be among the people of jihad will be called from the gate of jihad, and whoever will be from the people of fasting will be called from it..........(B/M)

  8. The gates of Paradise • There are eight doors of Jannah. Their names are as following. • BaabusSalaah: Those Muslims who were punctual in observing their Salaah will be granted entry through this door. • Baabul Jihad: Those Muslims who participated in Jihad will be granted entry through this door. • BaabusSadaqah: Those Muslims who frequently gave Sadaqah will be admitted into Jannah through this door. • BaaburRayyaan: The Muslims who constantly observed the fast will be granted entry through this door. • Baabul Hajj: Those Muslims who observe their annual pilgrimage will be admitted through this door. • BaabulKaazimeenalGhaizWal ‘Aafina ‘Anin Naas: This door is reserved for those Muslims who suppress their anger and pardon others frequently. • BaabulAiman: This door is reserved for the entry of such Muslims who by virtue of their faith are saved from reckoning and chastisement. • BaabuzZikr: Those Muslims who excessively remembered Allah will be admitted through this door.[1]

  9. The grades of Paradise • Allah says: {وَمَن يَأْتِهِ مُؤْمِناً قَدْ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّالِحَاتِ فَأُوْلَـٰئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَاتُ ٱلْعُلَىٰ} ‘’But whoever comes to Him as a believer, and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks’’. Taha: 75) The Prophet said: ‘’The people of Paradise will look at the people dwelling in the chambers above them in the same way that people look at a brilliant star shining far away on the horizon, in the East or West, because of their superiority over them’’. The people asked, ‘’O Messenger of Allah, are these the dwellings of the Prophets which no-one else can attain? He replied: No, by the One is Whose hand my soul, they are for the men who believed in Allah and also in His Messengers’’. (B/M)

  10. The least reward in Paradise • The Prophet said, "I know the person who will be the last to come out of the (Hell) Fire, and the last to enter Paradise. He will be a man who will come out of the (Hell) Fire crawling, and Allah will say to him, 'Go and enter Paradise.' He will go to it, but he will imagine that it had been filled, and then he will return and say, 'O Lord, I have found it full.' Allah will say, 'Go and enter Paradise, and you will have what equals the world and ten times as much (or, you will have as much as ten times the like of the world).' On that, the man will say, 'Do you mock at me (or laugh at me) though You are the King?" I saw Allah's Apostle (while saying that) smiling that his premolar teeth became visible. It is said that will be the lowest in degree amongst the people of Paradise. (Bukhari)

  11. Highest positions of Paradise • The shuhada: ‘’The best of the shuhada are those who fight in the first rank, and do not turn their faces away until they are killed. They will have the pleasure of occupying the highest dwellings in Paradise....(Musnad Ahmad). • ‘’The one who helps widows and the destitute is like one who fights in jihad for the sake of Allah. I (abuhurayra, the narrator) think said: And he is like the one who stands all night in prayer and never sleeps, and like the one who fasts continually and never breaks his fast.’’ (Muslim). • The one who helps orphans • Fathers by the blessings of their children’s dua.

He said: From water. We asked, ‘From what is Paradise built? He said, Bricks of gold and silver and mortar of fragrant musk; its pebbles are pearls and rubies, and its soil is saffron. Whoever enters it is blessed with joy and will never be miserable; he will remain there forever and will never die; his clothes will never wear out ands his youth will never fade away.’’ (Mishkat)

  13. The rivers of Paradise • Allah says: {وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِين آمَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلأَنْهَٰرُ ‘’ “and give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow” (qur’an 2:25) The Prophet said: “I saw four rivers flowing out from beneath Sidrat Al-muntaha, two visible and two hidden. He asked, O’ Jibreel , what are these rivers?’ He said, ‘the two hidden rivers are rivers of paradise, and the two visible rivers are the nile and the Euphrates.” (Muslim) • Al- Qaree’ said “these four rivers are considered to be among the rivers of paradise, because they are so sweet and digestive, so fresh and wholesome. They contain blessings from Allah, and are honoured by the fact that prophets came and drank from them.

The Prophet described these palaces to us. He (prophet) said: ‘’In Paradise there are dwellings whose inside can be seen from outside, and the outside can be seen from inside.
