WELCOME! • MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS EVERY DAY: • 3 Ring Binder with lined paper • With section for Geography ONLY! • Textbook (once it has been assigned) • Pencil Case with: • Pencils, pencil crayons, pencil sharpener, white eraser, ruler, pens, dry whiteout, thin black-felt tip marker, basic scientific calculator, memory stick

  3. EXPECTATIONS • All of my expectations for you are based on RESPECT. • Be in class on time and in full uniform; • Do not have electronic devices (iPods, Phones, etc.) on your person in class. They are to be turned off, and kept in your locker or book-bags; • Do not bring food or drinks to the class and please: no perfume/cologne! • Have all of your materials with you in class; • Do not speak over others or interrupt lessons; • Hand in assignments that have been completed to the best of your ability, on time; • Be present on summative due dates/test days; • Be kind, to yourself and others. Strive to be the best person you can be each day.

  4. WHO AM I? • Mrs. Kot – formerly known here as Ms. Reynolds for those of you who may have older siblings that I have taught.

  5. WHERE DO I COME FROM? • I was born in Montreal, and lived there until I was 10. Yes I can speak French – but not perfectly! View of Montreal from Mont Royal

  6. YEP, YOU GUESSED IT! • Montreal is bilingual, and you can find the best pizza and poutine in the country here!

  7. MY BACKGROUND • Although I was born in Montreal, like my two older brothers, I am a first generation Canadian! My mother was born in Scotland, my father was born in India and they met and married in England before moving to Canada.

  9. WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD… • My family moved to Swaziland, Southern Africa for 2 years, which gave me my love of travel and experiencing other cultures.

  12. WHERE HAVE I WORKED? • My first teaching job was at PECI (Prince Edward Collegiate in Picton, ON. I taught grade 9 to 12 Geography there. I WORKED HERE FOR 3 ½ YEARS

  13. THEN I MOVED… TO THE UAE • I decided I wanted to do what I loved… teach and travel, so I moved to the Middle East to the United Arab Emirates.

  14. WHERE I TAUGHT AT: AISA • The school I taught at was called the American International School of Abu Dhabi (AISA) which was a private school from kindergarten to grade 12. Here I taught grade 8 to 12 English and Geography including the IB program for English Literature. I taught and lived here for 3 years.

  23. BACK IN CANADA… • When I was ready to move back home I moved to the KW area! I taught at Resurrection for my first year home, where I taught grade 9 English and Geography, grade 10 History, Grade 11 World Religions and Grade 12 English.

  24. FINALLY! • Then I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to work here at St. Benedict’s, where I have taught grade 12 English and grade 9, 11 and 12 Geography for the last 7 years!
