  1. How are seeds formed? By: Nyle, Gerome, Geeta, Winnie Class: 5E Motto: Go Go Power Rangers!

  2. Pollination • Pollen grains from the anther need to be transferred to the stigma of the male part. • Plants cannot move from place to place so they rely on external areas to carry out pollination.

  3. Fertilization • Fertilization takes place when a male sex cell joins with a female sex cell. • The male cell travels down into the ovary of the female part of the flower. • When the male cell reaches the ovule it is released from a tube tofertilize the female sex cell. • The pollen grain has 2 nuclei. One fuses with the nucleus of the female cell, while the other fuses with 2 other cells in the ovule to form a food store. The ovule can now develop into a seed!

  4. Developing into a fruit • The fertilized plant female egg cell develops into an embryo which is contained in the ovule. • It grows into a fruit with seed/seeds inside the fruit. • The flower petals will eventually fade and die. • The hollow part near the ovary starts to swell, and slowly form a fruit.

  5. conclusion The ovary increases in size until it turns into a fruit. The ovules inside have become mature seeds. When the seeds are dispersed and the conditions are favorable, the seeds germinate and the life cycle is carried on. When it turns into an adult, the cycle repeats itself again.
