  2. American College & UniversityPresidents Climate Commitment • NC State University signed the ACUPCC in 2008 • Within one year complete a comprehensive inventory of GHG emissions which will be updated every other year • Within two years develop an action plan to reduce GHG emissions

American College & UniversityPresidents Climate Commitment • University is to adopt two actions to reduce GHG while developing an action plan • NCSU has adopted the following: • U.S Green Building Council’s LEED Silver Standard or equivalent • U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR Partner • Provide access to public transportation

Other GHG/Energy Initiatives • The State of NC will require Title V Permit holders with point sources to submit their GHG emissions for CY 2008 • Senate Bill 668 – 20% reduction of energy by 2010 and 30% reduction of energy by 2015 • The United States Congress is debating on Federal legislation to require facilities that are sources of GHGs to report their emissions and provide caps or reductions. (Lieberman-Warner Act, McCain-Lieberman Act, Sanders/Boxer Act, and Bingaman Act)
