  2. SCENARIO The Pirates of the Caribbean are at it again! The Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman are trying to find each other, but each ship is on a different path through the sea. Once the ships meet, the pirates will attack each other and the winners will take over the losing ship.

  3. PROBLEM • The Black Pearl starts 3 miles south of the origin. It then travels along a slope of 3/2. • Write an equation of a line that represents the path of the Black Pearl. • The Flying Dutchman starts 2 miles north of the origin. It then travels along a slope of -1. • Write an equation of a line that represents the path of the Flying Dutchman. • Graph the equations that represent the paths of the ships on your worksheet. • At what point will the ships meet? • What is the solution of the two equations you found?
