  1. P14311: Gate Review December 12th, 2013

  2. Agenda • Overview of PCB Isolation Routing System Design • 20 minutes • Review of Bill of Materials and Sourcing Status • 5 minutes • Review of Technical Action Items from DDR • 30 minutes • Team Evaluation and Improvements for MSD II • 5 minutes

  3. V00100- PCB Isolation Routing System

  4. V00001- Mill CNC Kit Electrical/Mechanical Characteristics: • Travel capacity: 7” (X) x 7” (Y) x 2” (Z) • High density PVC frame • Steel guide rods with precision linear bearings • Stainless steel M8 x 1.25 lead screws with ball bearing supports • Brass anti-backlash lead screw nuts • Shinano dual shaft NEMA 17 stepper motors

  5. V00006-Router V00005-Specialty Collet Bosch Colt Variable Speed Router 16,000-35,000 rpm  Specialty Collet Kit 1/8 in. Precision Grade (PG) Colt collet, nut, wrench, and lubricant Helps decrease TIR

  6. V00035- Router Support Plate

  7. V00036- Router Support Brackets

  8. V00010- Vacuum Table Assembly Made from aluminum 13 x 13 grid pattern Holes are ½” spacing Support brackets inside of table to ensure a flat surface Use RTV sealer during assembly to prevent leaks

  9. V00010- Vacuum Table Assembly

  10. Registration System Originally Plan: User defined pin locations Problems with vacuum hole interference Revised system includes pre-set pin hole locations

  11. V00064- Milling Machine Assembly

  12. V00011- Vacuum System Shop-Vac 5895400 model Fits nicely into our system design Provides more CFM and Power than Vacuum used for testing Low cost(~ $70)

  13. Adapters from PVC to ¾” NPT to connect to 1” flexible ducting Flexible ducting attached to vacuum table using ¾” NPT components Vacuum Table Ducting Rigid components supplying vacuum comprised of 1 ½” Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings PVC and Brass fittings from Home Depot Flexible ducting from anver.com

  14. Adapters from PVC to ¼” NPT to connect to ¼” flexible ducting Flexible ducting attached mill head to collect debris Debris Vacuum Ducting Ridgid Components made from off the shelf 1 ½” Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings PVC and Brass fittings from Home Depot Flexible ducting from anver.com

  15. V00014-Air Solenoid V00026- Pressurized Air Tubing

  16. Safety Devices: V00018- Interlock Circuit • Interlock will stop power to the following devices when door is opened: • Router • Stepper Motors and Drivers • Vacuum • Air Pressure Solenoid • All Logic Systems will remain on

  17. Safety Devices: V00022- E-Stop When pressed, E-stop will stop power to all devices requiring power except PC

  18. V00046/47- Electronic Controls Box • Mounted on outside of enclosure for maintenance access • Includes: • Controller PCBA • I/O Interface Board • Motor Drivers PCBA (3) • Cooling Fans

  19. V00024- Electrical Box Cooling Fans From calculations, Determined we need ~18CFM to keep box under 100°F. Selected 2 Comair Rotron 19032622A. 10 CFM 0.256 in H2O static pressure. $10.50 each

  20. User Interface Assembly

  21. V00019- Mach3 Interface Open Source software solution Fully customizable GUI Allows direct import of DXF, BMP, JPG, and HPGL files through LazyCam Router Speed Control Video Display of machine Wide variety of wizards available Supports large files (10,000,000 lines) Widely used with online support

  22. Bill of Materials & Budget Analysis Go to Spreadsheet for Ease of Viewing

  23. Remaining DDR Action Items to Review (add slides where applicable) Further review of Router support (if necessary) Power Schematic Power Consumption Table I/O Schematic Review I/O Signal Table Stepper Motor Voltage Low Voltage Power Supply Selection Pressure Sensor Relay Limit Switches Drawings/Test Plans

  24. Team Improvements for MSD II

  25. Break Action Items Develop Schedule Work Elements for Master Schedule Complete Purchase Drawings for all remaining Purchase parts Source remaining non-critical items Finish refining Test Plans
