  3. Interphase • G1 – 1stgrowth phase • S – synthesis (copying) of DNA • G2 – 2ndgrowth phase • The cell grows and copiesits DNA in preparation fordividing.

  4. Prophase • The DNA condensesinto chromosomes. • The centrioles start to build the spindle.

  5. Metaphase • The spindle fibers linethe chromosomes upin the middle of the cell on the metaphaseplate.

  6. Anaphase • The centrioles start toreel in the spindle,pulling the chromosomesapart and sending halfof them to each side of the cell.

  7. Telophase • Chromosomes beginto uncoil and return tochromatin. • Membrane begins to form around the new nucleus. Cytokinesis • Cell pinches in two, dividing the cytoplasmand organelles in it evenly between the2 new cells.
