  1. AN INTRODUCTION TO THE CARE WORKERS CHARITY Victoria Benaityte Marketing and Communications manager KENT REGISTERED MANAGER CONFERENCE 2nd April 2019 www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk Registered Charity No 1132286 and SC048051

  2. the care workers charity Our Vision A UK where no care worker faces financial hardship alone. There are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. CWC is the UK’s only charity solely dedicated to supporting individuals working in care; we are here to help current and former care workers who face financial hardship. @Careworkersfund thecareworkerscharity.org.uk info@thecareworkerscharity.org.uk

  3. Who can we help? • We can provide hardship grants to individuals who have worked in a registered residential care, home care or supported living service, as defined by • CQC (England) • Care Inspectorate (Scotland) • Care Inspectorate (Wales) • Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority/RQIA (Northern Ireland) • Anyone in any role working within one of these registered services is eligible, including care staff, domestic, back office or catering staff. @Careworkersfund thecareworkerscharity.org.uk info@thecareworkerscharity.org.uk

  4. When can we help? • We award grants to meet the financial strain of the following circumstances: • 1. If someone close to you died recently • 2. If you have recently experienced a sudden or unexpected illness or injury • 3. If you recently had a sudden or unexpected loss of income • 4. If you had to deal with a sudden or unexpected change in living circumstances • 5. If you have faced a recent relationship breakdown @Careworkersfund thecareworkerscharity.org.uk info@thecareworkerscharity.org.uk

  5. HOW CAN WE HELP? • We offer two types of grants, typically limited to £500: • Essential needs grant • One-off payment towards the cost of an item or a need necessary to sustain the basic health, or to improve a poor quality of life of the person or family – for example: essential appliances, keeping a home warm, essential household requirements or health improvement aids @Careworkersfund thecareworkerscharity.org.uk info@thecareworkerscharity.org.uk

  6. HOW CAN WE HELP? • We offer two types of grants, typically limited to £500: • Crisis grant • One-off payment to support someone experiencing an unforeseen or life changing circumstance, such as bereavement, illness of injury and who has no resource to meet associated costs which could include funeral expenses, moving home, hospital travel expenses or home repairs. @Careworkersfund thecareworkerscharity.org.uk info@thecareworkerscharity.org.uk

  7.
