  1. Catfish A catfish is a fish. They vary in sizes from 10 cm. to 3 meters. They weigh up to 35 kilograms. Catfish can be a dull greenish-brown or bright green, with a reddish hue color. They got their name from the whiskers on their mouth. They have sharp spines on their dorsal fins that release poison that could cause serious injury or death to the animals that hunt the catfish.   2. The Muskrat My animal is the Muskrat. The Muskrat is like a Beaver . The Muskrat makes lodges so their family can live in there. The Muskrat has many predators. It is a mammal with large teeth so it can chew wood for their lodges. By: Pamela Salazar

  3. Wolves Wolves are in the dog family. They hunt elk, moose, caribou, and deer. They live in forests, grasslands, and even deserts. They have sharp teeth and claws, night vision, and a nose that can smell up to a mile. By Kyle Hall

  4. Bald Eagle My animal is the Bald Eagle. It has black and white feathers with a yellow beak. It likes to eat ducks, waddling birds, turtles, rodents, snakes, and also fish. It lives in Northern America usually where fish and reptiles are. Its predator is a human. By Gloria

  5. Barn Owl The Barn Owl has a heart shaped face, small black eyes, a very sharp beak, and black spots on its stomach and legs. The Barn Owl hunts small rodents, small birds, and small ducklings. Barn Owls can barely survive during the winter because they die of starvation. Barn Owls don’t have any Predators but they have all sorts of Prey.   6. Jack Rabbit Jack rabbits are from light gray to a dark brown-yellow in color . Their ears release heat so they don’t get over heated . They can run up to 30 kilometers an hour . They are eaten by coyotes, foxes, eagles, hawks, and humans. By Brianne

  7. Cougar A cougar is tan and white with brown ears and a strong body. Its favorite food is deer and it usually sleeps in trees. In the night their eyes glow. They don’t eat humans unless they’re really hungry. The reason he’s mad in this picture is because these guys tried to make him mad so they could get the picture. Cougars are nice only if you are nice to them. Cougars are starting to go down in population and once they’re born their dad sometimes will eat them. By Dylan

  9. Desert Tortoise The Desert Tortoise is brownish.Its face looks scaly, has a big nose, a little eye-ball, and a big shell that protects it. A Desert Tortoise eats Grape Leaves, Mulberry Leaves, Grass, and Drinks Water. Its Predators are Ravens, Gila Monsters, Kit Foxes, Badgers, Road Runners , Coyotes, and Fire Ants. Something neat about a Desert Tortoises’ eggs is that they are shaped like a Ping Pong Ball. By Charlana

  10. Red Tailed Hawk The Red Tailed Hawk is a bird. They have a brownish white breast and a brownish red tail . Their habitats are Deserts, mountain forests, and woods. They will live on the edge of forests and woods. They eat small rodents, lizards, snakes, fish, and insects. They make their nests on high branches out of sticks, grasses, mud, twigs, and thickets. In the winter, the younger Red Tailed Hawks migrate. The older ones don’t unless there is a harsh winter. They have very good eye sight to catch small prey . By Seaena

  11. Raven My animal is a Raven. A Raven eats anything dead and mice, lizards, small birds, and berries. My animal has no predators. Its about 20 inches long and has a wing span that is 46-56 inches long. Ravens live in the desert . Ravens get their nest stuff from sheep. Wool for their nest and some twigs .   12. Rattlesnakes Rattlesnakes flick their tongue to sense other living animals or people. They also have scales to absorb heat at the end of the day so they can go hunting at night. Its rattle shakes to warn off anyone or anything that is nearby. Its venom is very deadly to any living animal or person. Once the venom goes into the skin it dissolves the skin. By John

  13. The Utah Prairie Dog My animal is the prairie dog. It’s called dog because it’s feet look like a dog’s feet. My animal hibernates. Wolfs and wild dogs eat my animal. Prairie dogs eat stuff like leaves and bushes. They burrow underground. Some of the plants that live in the same area are grass, weeds, and a few trees. They are endangered. By Nathan B. Archer

  14. Peregrine Falcons are very beautiful. They are brownish yellow and white. They are the cutest thing when just born. They survive in the winter by finding holes in cliffs and crawling into them. They build nests out of sticks and twigs. When born, Peregrine Falcons have a special tooth called the egg tooth. The egg tooth helps the chick get out of their egg. Later in life it falls off.   15. Gophersby Terrin D. Gophers are ground squirrels that burrow more than 100 feet deep. When a predator comes, one will whistle so every gopher knows to get in the tunnels. Gophers weigh about a quarter of a kilo. Gophers are about 15 centimeters long. Its tail is 7 centimeters long.

  16. Gopher Snake The gopher snake is medium size with color ranging from light yellow and dark brown with black spots. They eat small mammals, birds and eggs. They find burrows and kill anything that lives in there. They go and stash their prey in their burrows and they are very strict about their homes. They can be 36 to 96 in. long.   17. Frogs Frogs are about 3.2 to 5.7 cm. They can breath under water. Frogs eat decomposing worms or fish food. They live in ponds or lakes, and they can hide in the woods so humans cannot find them. Frogs breathe with their gills, skin and lungs . By Yien

  18. Elk The color of an Elk is light-colored with a dark brown beard. The kind of food it eats is grass, shrubs, sage and sometimes twigs. They survive in the winter by growing a new coat that is thicker and better. Their predators are hunters, bobcats, mountain lions, and cougars.   19. Coyote Coyotes live in the desert. They weigh up to 50 pounds and are about 40-60 inches in length. Their fur is a light gray or tan in color with a black tip on the tail. They live on a diet that is small animals, insects, reptiles, fruits, berries, and wild plants. Coyotes are a member of the dog family and live in the low deserts and valleys. In winter, the coyote’s coat becomes silky and hunters like to hunt them for their fur. Fun Facts: Coyotes can run up to 40 mph and can jump over an eight foot fence. Coyotes can breed with both dogs and wolves. A dog and a coyote mix are called a coydog. By Meilani

  20. Cottontail Rabbit The cottontail rabbit has a stub tail with a white stub. The cottontail rabbit eats plants and is a cryptographic. There predators are foxes, racoonss, skunks and humans. They build their home underground. They have many plants around them. They survive winter by having a small variety of plants. Cottontail rabbits have big ears so they can hear predators.   21. Collard lizard Collard lizards live in the desert. They like to live in cracks, under rocks, inside trees and other cool shady places. This lizard is cold blooded so in the winter they will hibernate. A female lizard can lay from three to seven eggs each summer. Once the eggs are laid nobody takes care of them. Collard lizards are easy to recognize because they have two black lines that are by their neck. They eat other lizards or invertebrates. The collard lizard is hard to catch because it is so fast and it can walk on its own hind legs. If it is caught it is usually by other lizards, small mammals, or humans. By Ainsley Leavitt

  22. Salamanders A cool fact about the Salamander is that they hibernate….in summer! One of the varieties has yellow spots! They also have large tails for swimming. Salamanders eat insects too.   23. Cutthroat Trout A Cutthroat trout has a blunt head, and a jaw that goes past its eyes. They live in an ocean or pond. It has some awesome markings. Shrubs, trees, and wetland plants live near the Cutthroat trout. The Cutthroat trout eats insects and fish smaller than themselves. They survive winter by moving to a place that doesn’t have ice.   24. Bobcats Bobcats are felines. They have sharp teeth and claws for hunting. Some of their predators are coyotes, pumas, and humans. They rarely live up to fifteen years in the wilderness. They could be brown or tan with stripes and dots on their fur. They survive in the winter by hunting and finding places to stay warm. Their natural habitat is a thicket cave or a rocky crevice. They protect themselves from predators by running up to fifteen miles per hour and jumping up to twelve feet, also by blending in with their environment. by Ajah Killian

  25. Black Bear Black Bears are small and can be different colors. They can be black , brown and white. They are called a Black Bear because they are mostly black. A black bear can walk on its back legs. They can be up to seven feet tall when they stand on their back legs. A black bear builds its home under a rock. They use honey to hold up the walls.   26. Big Brown Bat The big brown bat looks big brown and hairy. The food that they eat are flying insects. They swoop down and catch the insect in their mouth. They hibernate in the winter and they store food for spring. Their predators are humans. Without wings, they would not survive. They have a sonar so they can find food at night. The plants that live around are pine trees. Something neat about big brown bats are that they have sonar in their ears so they can hear from miles away.   28. Red Fox The Red Fox is red and white. They live in the forests in the forest they hunt and live in the forest . After mating the red fox has about ten pups. When the pups are seven months old they learn how to hunt with their parents. Some of the plants that live in the forest with the Red Fox are the aspen tree, pine tree, and wild flowers. A fun fact about the Red Fox is they can hear under ground digging, gnawing , and rusting. Things the red Fox uses to protect its self are its sharp claws and teeth. By, September U.
