Key events • Disguised as a beggar by Athena, Odysseus finally walks into his home after 20 years. • He is confronted by the suitor Antinouswho refuses to give him any food to eat even though he is clearly a poor man. • Odysseus calls him selfish, clearly trying to ___________________ Antinous. • At this, Antinous threw a stool at Odysseus and hit him right in the shoulder. • But, Odysseus remains ____________.

  4. Events con’t • The other suitors became very frightened. They began to think that “the beggar” was in fact ______________. They wanted to treat him better. • Meanwhile, Telemachus has not shown any emotion. Why not? • Penelope has heard the commotion from her room and asks that the beggar be escorted up to see her so that she may ask him ______________________.
