  8. Scheduling Classes • Revisit to practice • Problem #1 • You are enrolled in a Career Program for computer graphics for your 1st semester. You have the following on your plate during a week: • Work: M/W from 11:00am - 3:00pm • Study time: T/Thurs from 3:00pm - 6:00pm • Transportation issue: Can’t get to school before 9 any days

  9. Scheduling Classes • Revisit to practice • Problem #2 • You are enrolled in a Transfer Program for Liberal Arts - English for your 1st semester. You have the following on your plate during a week: • Work: M/W/F 8:00am - 11:00am • Drama club: T/Thurs 3:00pm - 4:00pm • Transportation issue: Must leave campus by 4pm everyday

You have the following on your plate during a week: • Work: M/W/F 9:00am - 3:00pm • Not an early morning person • Likes classes spaced apart to give for study/computer time

  11. The Internet as a component of College Courses • Graduate program at University of Maryland • Business program at Virginia • Graduate program at George Washington University

  12. Col-011-YS blog • Let’s check it out and practice • www.col011ys.wordpress.com

  13. Examples of Blog Posts • Poor examples • This was a great site I really liked it. • I agree with what Alex said. • This was a bit boring to me.

  14. Examples of Blog Posts • Fair examples • I found this information interesting especially the amount of activities available at CCC. My goal would be to get involved in the newspaper and join at least one academic honor society. • I disagree with what the author said in this article. My biggest concern with going to college is learning how to stay focused during lectures. While time management is important, I feel I have the skills to handle classes, studying, and outside activities.

  15. Examples of Blog Posts • Excellent example • Dr. Smith’s article on time management was helpful to me because of the specific technique he suggested on page 31, “plan your week the week before.” In high school I found myself living each day as it comes, from Dr. Smith’s article I have learned this will not be effective in college. Dr. Smith’s experience as a college professor for over 23 years supports his theories and while I might not use his “notebook technique” he mentioned on page 24, I know I will implement some of his suggestions immediately.
