  2. Organization VMG Vision: A society where all landless, tenants and small farmers enjoys a secure, free and dignified life. 'self-reliance farmers society' Mission: To organize and empower land poor women and men enabling them to claim and exercise their basic rights including right to land resources, contributing to eradicating poverty, hunger and injustice through sustainable farming.

  3. General Profile • Year established: December, 2004 • Total individual members: 92335 (40186 male 22347 female) • Total number of Farmer organizations: 2741 (Village Level) • Total districts covered by org: 53 • Number of board member: 10 male 11 female

  5. Major programs/services to members • Organizing and educating about land rights to the members and land poor people. [Land Learning Centre, Land camp, Training] • Pressurizing the government and political parties for the implementation of land reform action plan [Dialogue, Research, Submit policy proposal] • Formation agriculture cooperatives, trained to members and support to implement their action plan. [Cooperatives] • Initiated community led land and agrarian reform practices in 5 places • Joint land ownership campaign [Legal support, Creating awareness] • Support to VLRF to implement their action plan mainly for using fallow land. • Organized conference and meeting to include land agenda in manifesto of political parties.

  6. Work with AFA • Research on youth in Agriculture. • National Consultation on International Year of Family Farming and Youth in Agriculture. • Published calendar with IFFY message. • Involve in GEC process.

  7. Regional Land Assembly held in various districts

  8. a total of 447 hh have received land certificates covering a total area of 101.01 hectares.

  9. During the year, a total of 739 families have acquired Joint Land Ownership Certificates covering an area of 257 ha of land.

  10. Discussion with political party representative on the issue of land rights.

  11. National Consultation Workshop on formulation of land policy.

  12. Major Advocacies

Major Plans 2014-2015 • Demonstrate in different places including capital in order to create pressure upon the government to address land related issues in up coming constitution. • Joint land ownership Campaign • 4rth National Conference, September 2014 • Formation of agricultural cooperatives and assist in increasing productivity through financial means and other necessary assistance.
