HFICD Mission • Provide a forum for the exchange of technical information for practitioners within the field • Provide mechanisms for training and education for individuals entering the field or practitioners improving their skills • Serve as an advocated for advancing HFICD technology and/or practice within the nuclear arena • Serve as a point-of-access for external inquiries into nuclear HFICD technology and/or practices

  3. The focus of the HFICD is on the information and human-system interface aspects of nuclear systems. This includes the sensors that transduce physical processes into signals, the data processing and communications systems, the information display, and the perception and interpretation of information by humans. Both operational status and system health are extracted from measured signals. The interaction humans with automation and their decision processes are particular foci of the division. HFICD Scope

  6. Current Financial Status Final accounting for NPIC&HMIT 2009 still not received. Intent is to sponsor new HFIC scholarship with meeting and existing funds

Division Planning & Communications • Request for bids for next NPIC&HMIT meeting released • Updated communications effort in progress • Updated website responsibility necessary • Division newsletter • Division provides substantial contribution to roughly annual Nuclear News Instrumentation and Controls special section

  9. Successful NPIC&HMIT Meeting Held • 6th American Nuclear Society International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Plant Instrumentation, Controls, and Human-Machine Interface Technologies held in Knoxville, TN April 5-9, 2009 • Broad international meeting support
