  3. Use What You KNOW Brainstorm • Activate prior knowledge • Ask yourself: “What do I know about… • Genre • Topic • Author

  5. Make a PREDICTION • Base your predictions on the text • Ask yourself: “What will happen next?” • Review and adjust predictions when necessary

  6. Mental Images/Imagery Using your senses as you read to make a movie in your mind Enter the Story World

  7. Infer • Use the author’s clues to make meaning • Become a “Reading Detective” • Read between the lines
