  1. Community Outreach Task Force

  2. Steering Committee Tasks: • ID pre-event outreach topics and intended audience(s). • Develop, in cooperation with information owner i.e. PoR, key messages & campaign materials, and identify who will deliver the information. • Develop Implementation plan. • Recommend next steps for 2013 TF.

  3. Plan of Action: • Reviewing the Fact Sheets currently available on the RRT website. The existing sheets need to be updated, and additional sheets need to be developed. • We will then focus on developing a basic introduction, a primer, to the whole process of oil spill response as communities currently do not understand how the process works. • After the basic course is created, we will focus on more specific topics such as PoR, VOOs, Volunteers, Alternate Response Technologies vs. mechanical recovery and the trade-offs involved, etc. • The detailed topics will be developed as standalone topics that we can eventually pull from to create customized presentations to the intended audience.

  4. Status • Identified 16 topics for fact sheets; seven are essentially done, remainder in various stages of completion. • Four additional topics identified but on hold pending outcome of legislation and rule development. • Challenges/Shortfalls/Gaps: Time • Plan Of Action and Milestones: • Next Meeting is TBD as we just had one. • Complete all fact sheets by mid-summer. • Start developing the talking points supporting each fact sheet topic to be used as the building blocks for community presentations. Supports the one voice unified approach. • Take advantage of every opportunity to interact with the community.
