What is GPA/Rank? • Grade Point Average (GPA) = numeric representation of how well a student has done across a range of courses and years. • Rank = an ordering of students by grade level and GPA in descending order. • Some districts refer to their weighted GPA as the official Rank. • Aspen refers to Rank as the sort order.

  4. How is GPA calculated? • ∑ (value of Grade * value of Course) • ∑ value of Course • All GPAs are calculated using this formula. • The only difference is what the values are that go into the formula and which courses are included in the sum.
