  5. Materials POTentiometer (variable resistor with 3 legs) Resistor Battery (6 VDC) 555 Timer Chip • - + LED Resistor Multimeter Stopwatch Direction matters! Capacitor • - +

  6. Build Your Circuit Measure using multimeter resistance in Ohm and capacitance values in Farad Place your components on the breadboard Direction of LED and Capacitor matters! Potentiometer (fold one leg and do not connect) Do not connect this leg!

  7. Analyze your Circuit • Make Rpot = 100kOhm • Connect battery • Measure blinks/sec • Calculate blinks/sec • Disconnect battery • Repeat for Rpot = 75, 50, and 25kOhm
