  2. Theme of Movement Geographers study how people, goods and ideas moved from place to place. They study how people communicate, stay connected and depend on each other.

  3. Region A region is an area on earth that is defined by unifying characteristics. It is noticed that there are things in common in an area. • Common physical features Common language and geography, (North Africa) (Appalachian mountain region)

  4. 3 kinds of Regions Formal Region – defined by government political boundaries. Vernacular Region - “up north” “uptown” The way we think about a place. Our perception, not government Functional region – Regions defined by a function (school boundaries, cell phone coverage area, bus service area, newspaper delivery area). T-Mobil coverage area

  5. HUMAN-ENVIRONMENTINTERACTION This describes the positive and negative effects that occur when humans interact with the environment. Increased food production to feed people

  7. Location The position of anything on Earth’s surface There are two types of location • Absolute Location • Relative Location
