  1. 1a I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! 1b For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2a God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Paul was an Israelite and was not rejected but had obtained righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ. He is living proof that God did not reject Israel.   2. 2b Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel ? 3 "Lord, THEY HAVE KILLED YOUR PROPHETS, THEY HAVE TORN DOWN YOUR ALTARS, AND I ALONE AM LEFT, AND THEY ARE SEEKING MY LIFE.“ 4 But what is the divine response to him? "I HAVE KEPT for Myself SEVEN THOUSAND MEN WHO HAVE NOT BOWED THE KNEE TO BAAL."   3. 5 In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God's gracious choice. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace. Paul says there is a remnant at the present time (kairos – fixed and definite period, season) A remnant in Paul’s day could not be separate from the Church since it is one body consisting of Jew and Gentile. ex: Apollos in Acts 18:25 Review - God has not rejected His peopleRom 11:1- 6

  4. Romans 11:11 – 15 11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. 12 Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! 13 But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14 if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. salvation (has come) lit., "a fall beside," from uprightness and truth see Gal 6:1 to the Gentiles by their transgression to make them jealous make jealous - parazeloo - "to provoke to jealousy" (para, "beside," used intensively, and zēlos ), is found in Rom. 10:19; Rom. 11:11, of God's dealings with Israel through his merciful dealings with Gentiles; jealousy in a good sense – to stir up desire see Rom.10:19

  7. 12 Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! lit., "a fall beside," from uprightness and truth a decrease, diminution," denotes "a loss their transgression (is) riches for the world their failure (is) riches for the Gentiles riches - ploutos - of spiritual and moral "riches," (a) possessed by God and exercised towards men, See Rom. 2:4 that which has been completed how much more will their fulfillment be! What fulfillment is this referring to? Israel in the millennial kingdom - Isa. 14:1-3, Joel 3:1-2

  8. 13 But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, Who is Paul addressing ? a. Gentiles in general b. Gentile believers I am an apostle of Gentiles 1 Timothy 2:7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. Acts 13:46Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.
