  1. Design of course to teach simulation using SimTK Darryl, Jill, Rick, Paul, Kate, Rob

  2. Prerequisites • Biomechanics • Dynamics • reviewed in lecture • 2d rigid body / inverse dynamics • Programming • Exposure to any language (logic) • Lab course geared toward grad students • OK for ME, BIOE, KINES

  3. Objectives • Tutorial based • Exposure to field • Develop musculoskeletal model • Simulate animal/human movement • Components of generic simulation • Know/apply advanced analysis tools • Final project • Overall goal: training your students to learn and use simulation for particular application

  4. Curriculum • Core labs (1-2 weeks each) • Kinematic MS model • Torque-actuated simulation • Muscle tendon modeling • Muscle-actuated simulation • Numerical optimization • Analysis tools • Customized lecture • Motivated by literature

  5. Considerations • Less time spent on programming and more on applications • Teams sorted by skills • Great TAs • Small class size

  6. Shared resources • Database of courses offered? • Personal communication? • Labs and lectures?
