SMART to Scout Transition • NSW schools are moving to NAPLAN online assessments with tailored testing. • To support the analysis of NAPLAN online results, reports can now be found in Scout. • Schools will be able to access NAPLAN, HSC and VALID reports in Scout at the time the results are released. What is Scout • Scout reports are useful for planning, analysis, research, reporting and evidence based decision-making. • The information is presented in a range of clear and concise chart formats. The data is stored within a data warehouse in a cloud based platform. Scout draws data from multiple sources. Scout is accessible from most devices, anywhere. Slide 10

Data Governance and Privacy • At all times be aware of your obligations under privacy legislations. • You are bound by NSW privacy laws when accessing the data in Scout and must agree to comply with the conditions before accessing data. • The data contained within Scout contains personal and sensitive information about students, teachers and staff. You must ensure that confidential information cannot be accessed by unauthorised people and should only be shared with others with authorised access. • Contact Scout User Support if you are not sure about what is appropriate. Report Access • Initially teachers will only have access to five to seven Apps – NAPLAN Paper Item Analysis, NAPLAN Online Item Analysis, NAPLAN Performance, VALID Performance, HSC Performance, Best Start Year 7 and Community Profiles. However, over time the range of reports will increase to meet the needs of teachers. Slide 13

Granular & Aggregate Reports Student Growth Reading & Numeracy Student Single View Granular Reports School Item Analysis School Item Analysis – Writing Crime Statistics & Trends Aggregate Reports • Scout contains two types of reports – Granular and Aggregate. Teachers will have access to both. • Granular reports provide personally identifiable information about teacher, staff and students. • Aggregate reports do not contain personally identifiable information.
