BACKGROUND OF STUDY • There are many laboratory accident happens in Malaysia. • There are few type of regulation or act in Malaysia. • “Occupational safety and Health Act 1994 and the Environmental Quality Act, 1974 vis-à-vis the Environmental Quality (scheduled waste)(Amendment) Regulations 2005”

  5. There are some causes which laboratory accident happens: • Lack of working understanding hazards • Improper or unintended use of equipment or reagents • Inexperienced scientist • Distractions, lack/loss of attention to task • Broken, damaged glassware or equipment

  6. OBJECTIVE • To examine the awareness level of civil engineering students. • To determine possible ways in preventing accidents.

  7. RESEARCH QUESTION • What is the awareness level of civil engineering students when conducting the experiments in the lab? • What are the possible ways to preventing accidents happened in the lab?

  8. SCOPE OF STUDY • Students must wear suitable clothes, boots and even helmet during the experiment in lab. • students must have proper discipline during laboratory work. • Personal appearance and hygiene are also important during the lab carried on

  9. METHODOLOGY • The methodology for data collection is by using the quantitative way(s) that is by questionnaires and/or interviews. • Type of question: MCQ, Open-ended question • Target: civil engineering students • Quantity: 60-70 students
