  4. Bonham Middle School Common Rules • Be courteous and respectful • Be responsible • Be on time and attend all classes regularly • Be prepared for each class and ready to learn • Be in dress code and wear your ID

  5. Behavior Expectations The interruption of classroom instruction will not be tolerated

  6. Expectations • At Bonham Middle School, all students must comply with the terms and conditions listed below. ATTENDANCE: • Students will attend school regularly and be on time. • Students will clear ALL absences at Saturday School. BEHAVIOR: • Students will demonstrate acceptable behavior and maintain satisfactory citizenship grades (no referrals, no suspendable offenses, etc.) • Students will not be defiant or disrespectful to anyone (staff or peers). COURSEWORK: • Students will do their best and maintain satisfactory academic grades (minimum grade of 70). • Students will attend ALL assigned attendance, behavior, or coursework interventions.

  9. 15 MINUTE RULE STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE CLASSROOM THE 1ST 15 MINUTES OR THE LAST 15 MINUTES OF CLASS. STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE CLASSROOM FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: • 1. Medical Emergency: Call the nurse first! • 2. Emergency Restroom Need: Teacher Discretion! • All students in the hallway without a hall pass will be • escorted to class and if found to be in the hallway without permission, • they will be issued a tardy or appropriate discipline!

Bonham Middle SchoolCell Phone Policy and Procedures Students have the right to possess cell phones however: The Cell Phone: • Must not be displayed (Not Visible) • Must be powered off (Turned off) • Must not be used (No texting, calling or checking time!) • Must not be audible (Not Heard) If the device rings, beeps, vibrates or otherwise indicates the receiving or transmission of a signal during the school day, it will be confiscated. **Classroom teachers have ability to allow use within classrooms for instructional purposes. Consequences for Violating Policy 1. Warning 2. Confiscation of cell phone • Phone held in the bookkeeper’s office • Phones will be released to the parent or guardian only. There will be no further disciplinary consequences, unless there were additional code of conduct offenses committed, such as refusals!

  12. Bonham Middle SchoolArrival Procedures • Drop off is in the South parking lot. Students will enter the front entrance only. • Bus students will report to the cafeteria upon arrival and remain there until 8:20. At that time students will have a slow release from the cafeteria table by table. • All other students will report to and enter the front entrance at 8:00 a.m. and report to the Boy’s gym and be seated in sections. 6th Grade on the South side. 7th/8th on the North side. Students will have a slow release section by section beginning with 6th grade, then 7th/8th . • Teachers and administrators will be on duty in each area • Once students arrive on campus they are not allowed to leave • No outside drinks are allowed on campus. • Students must be in dress code before entering the building and anytime during the school day

Bonham Middle SchoolDismissal Procedures • Students will be dismissed with a staggered bell schedule: 6th Grade 4:05, 7th Grade 4:10, 8th Grade 4:15. • All students that are being picked will be walked to the South East side of the building by their teacher. There are 2 lanes for parents to use in the parking lot moving from East to West. 6th grade parents will use the North lane and 7th and 8th will use the South lane • If parents have made arrangements to pick-up off campus, students are to use the crosswalks on 21st Street and surrounding intersections • All students that ride the bus will be walked by teachers to the Cafeteria and will follow the directions of the principal and teachers on where to sit • Students will remain at a level 2 voice level to hear • All other students are to leave campus immediately after they have been walked outside using the crosswalks.

  14. Standard Attire SHIRTS • Gray, Royal blue, Navy, Black, and White are the approved color of polos or campus spirit shirts at Bonham Middle School • Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in at all times • DO NOT WEAR see-thru blouses or shirts. Students may wear a solid navy blue, gray, black, or white long or short sleeve t-shirt under their campus shirt • PE/Athletic attire may only be worn during Physical Education class

  15. Standard Attire PANTS • Khaki, Black, and Navy blue casual pants with belt loops. • Pants must be worn on the waist and fit so that pant does not fall below the waist. • Pants must be hemmed appropriately. • Pants may not be torn at the seams and may not drag on the ground. • Pant bottoms may not be rolled up to form cuffs. • Pants must be worn on the outside of all footwear. • Pants may not be tucked into shoes or socks. • DO NOT WEAR oversized, baggy, saggy, wide-leg, low-riders, below the waist, tight, hip huggers, cargo, stretch pants (leggings/jeggings/yoga cloth-like materials) or suggestive pants. No joggers.

  16. Standard Attire • SHORTS • Khaki, Black, and Navy blue casual shorts with belt loops. Short and skirt lengths shall be no more than 5 inches above the knee (shorts and skirts purchased with slits will be measured for 5-inch requirement from the top of the slit to knee). • DO NOT WEAR oversized, saggy, baggy, low-riders, below the waist, tight, hip huggers, suggestive or cargo shorts. • “Shin length” shorts for boys are unacceptable. • PE/Athletic attire may only be worn during Physical Education class.

  17. Standard Attire SHOES • Students must wear shoes at all times – taps, metal plates, or cleats on shoes will not be permitted • Prohibited footwear includes slippers or footwear not intended for outdoor wear or shoes equipped with roller blades/wheels • Flip flops are acceptable

  18. Standard Attire Outerwear: Students will not be allowed to wear hoodies. Outerwear must be standard attire jacket and/or pull over sweatshirt purchased at Bonham Middle School.

  19. Standard Attire • GROOMING • Students will be required to wear their hair well-groomed and clean at all times • Unnatural or extreme modes of hair design and color will not be permitted

  20. Standard Attire HATS • No caps, beanies, hats, or any other head covering shall be worn on campus • Bandanas are not allowed on campus

Standard Attire BACKPACKS • All student backpacks must be clear or mesh. • All backpacks must be free from enhancements or writing that advertise, glorify, or support offensive, lewd, vulgar, obscene or profane language, images or gestures, gangs, illegal activities, tobacco, sex, alcohol, illegal drugs, or violence.

  22. Standard Attire BELTS • Belts are optional. If a student chooses to wear a belt, it must be a plain brown or black belt for boys and girls. • No initial or oversized buckles. • Belts may not be oversized so that the end of the belt hangs down. • Belts may not have studs or metal trappings.

  23. ID BADGES • IDs must be worn at all times and only with the appropriate grade level lanyard. • Defaced IDs must be replaced including drawing, stickers, holes, etc. • Teachers will check IDs every period. • Students are not allowed in class without their current ID. • Teachers will send students with no ID to the library to purchase a replacement or a temporary ID.

  24. Attendance • The attendance of students in school is a serious matter and is governed by state law. • Students must attend and maintain good attendance throughout the school year. • Students must attend at least 90% of the school year to receive credit for courses. • Credit and absences can only be regained by making up those hours outside of the regular school day which will be on Saturday

  25. Passes • Planners will be used as passes and are required anytime students are in areas other than their assigned classroom. • Teacher will not give passes during the first 15 minutes and last 15 minutes of class except in emergency situations

  26. Textbooks • Students will use class sets in the classroom. • Students may check out a book to take home beginning the second week of school. • Students must keep textbooks covered. • Mr. Iker is in charge of books.

  27. Activities Get involved: • Band • Choir • Orchestra • AVID • Athletics (Football, basketball, Girl’s volleyball, track and field, cross country, soccer) • Student Council • Principal Leadership Team
