ABOUT THIS PROJECT • For the past few months we spent 6 hours a week at William Lenoir Middle School • While we were there we paid close attention to the students and their environment • In order to gain an in depth view of the students and their daily lives we administered a survey to 180 students • They were instructed to rate a list of statements on a scale of 1-5, one being do not agree and 5 being strongly agree • Following these were several short answer questions.

We’re religious • Religion plays an important part in our lives. • Average survey response was 4.23. • Most of us participate in a specific religion. • Average response here was 4.15. • We express our beliefs freely at school • Average survey response = 3.42 • We have Bible studies and other religious clubs and activities.

  12. We listen to music… • The majority of our students claim to listen to music every day. • The combined average survey response (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) was 4.35. • Of those students, many believe music makes their day better. • The average response here was 3.85.

  14. Politics • Most students indicated that their parents were members of the Republican party. • Caldwell County supported George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004 • According to unofficial vote totals for 2004, Bush received more than double the votes that Kerry did. • Bush-20,799 Kerry-9,839 votes. • In the 2000 presidential race, Caldwell County strongly supported Bush. • Bush received 17,337 votes while Gore received 8,588 votes.
