What is meant by Multimedia? • The use of a variety of artistic or communicative media. • Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, or interactivity content forms. • Multimedia is usually recorded and played, displayed, or accessed by information content processing devices, such as computerized and electronic devices, but can also be part of a live performance.

What are its beginnings and roots? • The term multimedia was coined by singer and artist Bob Goldstein to promote the July 1966 opening of his "LightWorks at L'Oursin" show. • The German language society, Gesellschaftfür deutsche Sprache, decided to recognize the word's significance and ubiquitousness in the 1990s by awarding it the title of 'Word of the Year' in 1995.

What is meant by social media (networking)? • Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. • Social media technologies take on many different forms including magazines, Internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, microblogging, wikis, social networks, podcasts, photographs or pictures, video, rating and social bookmarking.

  7. What is a blog (blogging)? • A diary or personal journal kept on a website. • Blogs are usually updated frequently and sometimes entries are grouped by specific subjects, such as politics, news, pop culture, or computers. • Readers often post comments in response to blog entries

What is a podcast? • A multimedia digital file made available on the Internet for downloading to a portable media player, computer, etc. • The word is a neologism derived from "broadcast" and "pod" from the success of the iPod, as audio podcasts are often listened to on portable media players.

  10. What is meant by interactive media? • Interactive media normally refers to products and services on digital computer-based systems which respond to the user’s actions by presenting content such as text, graphics, animation, video, audio, games, etc.
