  3. Information helpline • Statewide free information and referral assistance in English and Spanish • All disabilities, all ages • Bilingual helpline • Toll-free help lines answered by AIRS-certified information specialists

  4. 2006-2007Information Helpline Report • Assisted individuals from 71 Tennessee • counties and 25 states • Most requested services included: • Financial Assistance • Social Security Disability Income • In-Home and Personal Assistance • Services • Employment

  5. Hispanic Outreach Project . Located in a local Hispanic community center . Works in collaboration with other Hispanic organizations . Offers bilingual staff (Spanish/English) . Provides individualized case management services and monthly parent support group meetings (in Spanish)

Disability Internet Village Internet user-friendly “village” website with: • Statewide database of 1,700 Tennessee agencies searchable by county and service type • Camino Seguro Hispanic database in Middle Tennessee • State and national resources by topic • Disability events calendar • 221,000 successful requests for pages Website is enhanced by resources of Vanderbilt Kennedy Center UCEDD and Developmental Disabilities Research Center

  7. Statewide Calendar of Events • Interactive site with over 120 TN disability agencies entering events • Includes community meetings, conferences, and selected national events

Camino SeguroBilingual Database • Database of Middle TN disability and social service agencies with bilingual staff available • Interactive site with Metro Nashville Social Services and Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee to maintain database • Expansion of database to West TN in partnership with University of Tennessee Boling Center (UCEDD), with intent to expand later to East TN

Model Accessibility Training Provides disability awareness and accessibility training in a classroom setting Trains college students to identify “accessibility-friendly” features of restaurants Assigns students to a specific restaurant to survey Rates restaurants as Wow, Good, or Limited Access Links ratings to Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau website and newspaper restaurant reviews Partners with a coalition of volunteers with disabilities, and representatives from the business, aging and disability fields
