  2. Introduction • PuTTY – allows users to run a remote session on a computer over a network. • Purpose: Remotely perform commands on a Unix server using a windows computer

  3. Open PuTTY 1 Step 1: Click on “Start”.

  4. Open PuTTY 2 Step 2: Click on “Run”.

  5. Open PuTTY 3 Step 3: Type "W:/Putty.exe" into the “Run” dialog box and hit "OK“.

  6. PuTTY Setup 1 Step 1: Type “gl.umbc.edu” into the Host Name Box.

  7. PuTTY Setup 2 Step 2: Type “GL” into the “Save Session Box”.

  8. PuTTY Setup 3 Step 3: Click on “Save”.

  9. PuTTY Setup 4 Step 4: Click on the “Open” Button.
