Recruiting – All Year Long • Open House events: • “Show off” your pack or troop – activity, events • Have each scout invite a friend (advancement requirement) • Have older scouts be “troop guides” for visitors • Do something fun for the youth • Have separate meeting/discussion with parents • Webelos II – 5th graders – Work your transition plans NOW!! • Get to know your 4th grade Webelos – Now is not too soon • Invite them to meetings, campouts, events • Start explaining to parents Boy Scouts versus Cubs • Show that Scouting is not an “either or” choice • Contact: • Mark Andres; mwandres@charter.net; 952-898-9721 JTE – 2, 3, 9

Family Friends of Scouting • Unit Goal – Last year’s unit pledge + $1 • Turn in to zone chairs (Susan Kewley or Kim Hoffman) : • First envelope right after presentation date • Second within two weeks – get the follow up done! • Change in Timing!!! • All presentations will be done before 2/28/13 • All campaigns will be finalized by 03/31/13 • Half of scheduled presentations completed – many units at goal! • Need help with presentation – just ask! Trained Leaders – Silver • PL has 40.4% of it’s leaders trained for their position (up from 38%) • ALL leaders are required to be current on Youth Protection • 195 of Prairie Lakes Leaders are NOT!! • Youth protection training – Always available online • Also required for re-chartering – get it done in advance • Encourage all new leaders to be trained for their position • Goes towards your Journey to Excellence Scores • ALL Cub Scout training for positions is online – leverage it! • University of Scouting @ Lakeville South on 4/20 – great opportunity • IOLS to be offered at Klondike • Look for BS training weekend this spring/early summer • Contact: • Lauren Johnson-Naumann; naumannscouts@aol.com; 952-469-3175 JTE – 4, 10 13

Advancement – Eagle Scouts • 66 Eagle Scouts from Prairie Lakes during 2012 • 2012 Northern Star Council Eagle Scholarship • Nominations open 12/1/12 to 2/1/13 • Encourage Eagles to apply; Application on council website • Cooking Merit Badge will be Eagle Required in 2014 • Same number of total MB required – increase in Eagle required • Partials cannot be carried into 2014 – new criteria • More new Merit Badges on the way • Contact: • Cory Klopp; crklopp@yahoo.com 651-206-4924 JTE – 1, 7 14

  21. Grey Wolf 2013 • National Youth Leadership Training • Advanced leadership training for Boy Scouts and Venture • 5 summer sessions at Fred C.
