  1. Essential Dental Care Tips for Toddlers

  2. Caring for a Toddler’s Teeth • The toddler years are when little ones explore more of everything around them. Having them brush their teeth might seem a bother to them. But, it’s important to be patient. • Kids are likely to carry with them good oral hygiene habits that they develop early on. Hence, you get to help your toddler keep their teeth healthy and beautiful for a lifetime.

  3. Here are some Tips to Help You Get Started:

  4. Make Brushing Fun • Kids might not find brushing and flossing appealing, but don’t give up. Set a good example by brushing your teeth regularly and inviting them to join in the fun too. • Let them pick the toothbrush they want. You may also use a toothpaste that’s made especially for kids. • Create an event or make up a story to make every brushing time more engaging for the little ones.

  5. Use a Gentle Approach • Make dental care a positive experience for your toddlers. • Don’t use force, threat, or negative stories to get your little ones to care for their teeth. If it takes you several attempts to get them to brush, that’s okay. • Take a step back and pause if you’re starting to feel exhausted.

  6. Follow up Their Brushing • If your little ones are already brushing their teeth, be sure to check on their work. • Kids this age are not yet physically capable of giving their mouth a good clean. You may need to brush or floss them again. • If possible, brush at the same time so you can show to them the proper way to clean their teeth.

  7. Leave Reminders To Your Babysitter • If you’re working full-time, talk to your babysitter about dental care. • Remind them to associate brushing to positive thoughts. • Your kids need to continue with their good dental care habits even if you’re not around.

  8. Give Them Healthy Snacks • Introduce teeth-friendly snacks to your little ones. • If you must give them sweets, time it so you can avoid them from munching on sugar throughout the day. • Encourage them to drink more water too to promote salivary flow in their mouth.

  9. Take Them to the Dentist • See expert advice from your dentist about the type of toothpaste that’s best for your little ones. • Have them take a look at the mouth of your little ones so you’ll find out if there are oral health issues you need to be aware of. • Dentists are also working hard to make visits comfortable for kids. They’re your partners in caring for your child’s teeth.
