  1. Dental Care Tips for Babies

  2. Dental Care • Dental care starts even before babies grow their teeth. • Protect your little one from dental issues that may have lasting effects on their smile. • It is important for parents to learn some important dental care tips for their babies.

  3. Here are tips on how to look after their teeth and mouth:

  4. Clean Gums using a Dampened Washcloth • Even though your baby is yet to enjoy solid food, food particles may still be left on their mouth from their milk. • Make sure to gently wipe their gums with a soft, damp washcloth. Wrap the cloth around your index finger and cover all areas of their gum.

  5. Brush once Tooth Starts to Come In • It helps a lot if your little one gets used to brushing early on. Make sure to clean after their tooth once you notice it coming in. • Invest in a soft-bristled toothbrush with a small head. At this point, a grain-sized amount of toothpaste will do.

  6. Be Patient and make it Fun • Not all babies will love brushing their teeth. If your baby is not happy with brushing, still be positive. Keep trying and make it fun for them. • Remember not too push too hard as you don’t want your child associate dental care with fear. Consider brushing your teeth with them around so they’ll be more willing to let you brush their too.

  7. Brush Teeth in Small Circles • Instead of brushing teeth in a straight path, try to go in small circular motion so you can cover more surfaces. • Always be gentle to avoid hurting their gums. When you see two teeth touch, you may also consider flossing. See if they will let you.

  8. Let them Drink more Water • Milk and fruit juice both have sugar in them. Don’t let your little one sleep with their feeding bottle. • Once they’ve fallen asleep, remove the bottle. Or practice filling a bottle with water, which they can have after drinking their milk.

  9. Finally, take your Child to the Dentist • Some think that caring for baby teeth is no longer that crucial since they’ll be replaced with permanent teeth eventually. • This is not true. Baby teeth save space for permanent teeth. If little ones suffer from gum issues due to poor dental care, this can as well affect their adult teeth.
